Welcome to the Laboratory Terminology Standards Working Group
Purpose
The purpose of this working group is to bring together the expertise of member countries and organisations to work towards consistency in representing laboratory diagnostic and laboratory medicine SNOMED CT observable entity content. Specifically, the expertise in developing three main terminology products: LOINC Ontology; NPU (NPU to SNOMED CT translations); Nebraska Lexicon; and UK SNOMED CT PaLM.
This working group will report into the SNOMED International Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) CRG.
Scope
The scope of this working group is to agree the core international editorial principles and interoperability rules between the terminologies where design requirements necessitate divergence, and to produce implementation guidance for labs, member countries and organisations developing or implementing pathology and laboratory medicine SNOMED CT content.
The scope of the working group is to collaborate with member country subject matter experts to address some of the main the challenges in representing laboratory test results in the SNOMED CT observable entity concept model that are common to the professional requirements.
