4SNOMED International update

EPS Team

The E&PS team will update the group on the education activities that have been the main focus since our last meeting.

Furthermore, plans and goals for 2021 will be presented.

5Member ReportsAll

You have been invited to provide your SNOMED CT education report via the Google form.

We walk through the responses and discuss any activities or comments of particular interest to the group.

6Discussion on SNOMED CT documentsAll

In the Education and Product Support team, we are currently reviewing our catalog of documents. We are interested in ensuring the usefulness of our key documents, and we would like to learn about the experiences and use of these document within your country. Please take the opportunity to discuss the importance and use of our catalogue of documents with your colleagues and local SNOMED CT network.

7Foundation course updateAll

Prior to the ELAG meeting, we would appreciate you putting some thoughts into the following questions relating to the design of the new foundation course.
Please take the opportunity to discuss these questions with your colleagues and local SNOMED CT network.

  • What do you see as the most important improvement for the SNOMED CT Foundation course?
  • Do you have recommendations to the duration of the course?
  • What learning activities and styles do you believe would be useful to focus on in the course? Please consider
    • Practical exercises (what types?)
    • Assessments (what extend?)
    • eBooks and written material
    • Presentations and videos

At the meeting, we will discuss the above questions, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

8Changes to eLearning ServicesAll

As per January of this year, our SNOMED CT courses are all free for SNOMED International Members. Only our certification exams involves a fee.

These changes are likely to cause an increased demand for our managed courses, i.e. the Authoring Level 1 course and the Implementation course. Practical limitations relating to resourcing allow us to enroll 40 students per AL1 intake, and 50 students per Implementation course intake.

Currently, course seats are offered by a first come, first served approach, but we may need to consider alternative ways of prioritizing our seats to ensure a fair distribution of learners across our Members.

Before the ELAG meeting, we ask you to consider how SNOMED International could address this dilemma.
