SNOMED/NCPT Session Kuala Lumpur

L.Unangst

C. Papoutsakis will present at the IHTSDO in late October/November meeting on the work being done to submit content from NCPT to SNOMED. This will include the historical perspective, pilot process and template creation.

5

Templating an Existing Templates

  • 5.1 Nutrient Intake templates - Revised template for intake terminology
  • Broad utility of template for intake.
  • 5.2 Screenshot examples to illustrate the individual attributes (original template (a) and updated template (b))
L.Unangst

L. Unangst presented the current working template for observable macro and micronutrient intake terms. It is changed from the one approved in concept by the CPG earlier in 2019 because of new terms that have the concept of route (eg, oral intake, enteral intake). The goal is broad applicability of the template to concepts in the Food and Nutrition Related class of NCPT. Each of the attributes were reviewed. These facilitate making the concepts fully defined. The SNOMED editor has indicated to the consultants that it is not unusual for a template to be refined over time.

6

Biochemical Terms

  • 6.1  2019 Term List, only labs - Review highlighted terms for Submission to SNOMED
L.Unangst

Three laboratory values from the pilot were submitted to SNOMED. The initial feedback was that the concepts–Glucose, fasting; Glucose, casual; and Hemoglobin A1C--were concepts in SNOMED. The consultants have clarified that the current concepts are procedures. In the pilot test, there is a need to record observable values for these biochemical data.

7

Food and Nutrition Related Observables

  • 7.1 Food and Nutrition-Related History Observables for SNOMED
D.Pertel Based on CPG hierarchy decisions in 2019, many NCPT Food and Nutrition Related History concepts can be included in SNOMED. Items for breastmilk and infant formula require additional clarification from SNOMED because breastmilk and infant formula (including soy infant formula) are presently under Dairy. Items not included in the CPG decisions relate to bioactive substances, adherence, readiness to change, and breastfeeding assessment among others. Consultants will bring these items to the CPG as time permits as the pilot test is the priority.
8 Next meeting September 16, 14:00 Central Time (-5 UTC)
The meeting will describe the pilot test progress and ongoing actions and the model critical thinking that is needed for the pilot.
