SNOMED CT GENOMICS STRATEGY
The Clinical Engagement team were asked to formulate a SNOMED International response to Genomics towards the end 2016. To take the work forwards and inform the process of developing a Genomics Strategy for the organisation, we created an SME Group. The SME Group met face to face at the April 2017 Business meeting in London. The group has membership from international genomics collaborations, international genomic organisations, genomics classifications/terminologies and national programmes focusing on genomics. The focus of the group was to review a proposed strategic approach, and then refine it accordingly. The outcome of the SME Group meeting was a Genomics Strategy, looking at deliverables over a 3-5 year period. The strategy uses a building block approach, and is based on the current understanding and shape of the genomics landscape globally. The strategy was then refined and agreed with the CEO and MB.
