To be able to have a consistent representation of sequence variation where multiple methods might be used for detection are applied, specifically when the coded protein is used as a proxy for detecting variation, a proposal is to have a common representation of the quality and represent the protein in the observation procedure part of the model. Currently, there is no attribute for representing this and it is suggested that the attribute DIRECT SUBSTANCE is used. See example:
