I have received a request for a new concept IMV - invasive mechanical ventilation with justification: "Invasive mechanical ventilation requires access to the trachea, most commonly via an endotracheal tube, and represents the commonest reason for admission to the ICU.".
I note in ISO 19223 https://www.iso.org/obp/ui#iso:std:iso:19223:ed-1:v1:en the following term is defined: 3.1.15
NIV
non-invasive ventilation
positive-pressure ventilation without the use of an invasive airway device.
Is it therefore appropriate to add the newly requested concept? thanks, Monica
