Slack, https://snomedintl.slack.com/, is the new cloud-based, collaborative team chat application being used by SNOMED International. It Slack is very similar to the previous tool used by the organization, Rocket ChatSnoChat, but is provided as a cloud service and has more useful features. betterl features including:
- direct integration with Zoom, Google Calendar and other SNOMED International tools
- more fine grained notification management & 'do not disturb' settings
- message threading
- user statuses
- stable and mature mobile apps
After using Rocket Chat for over a year, we have come to realize that, considering the priorities of the organization, the overhead for managing this service outweighs the benefit of having a service in-house. Slack is probably the most mature chat platform available and has , having been around for a number of years. It meets all of our requirements and more, as well as removing the infrastructure management overhead.
Note |
---|
This service will replace our current use of SnoChat. If you are currently using SnoChat, then Slack will be the tool you use going forward and the way it works will be very familiar. |
SnoChat will be taken out of service by 1st July 2018. If there is anything you would like to keep from Rocket Chat, please do so before then. |
