How to promote a task to to non-complex task (one without SAC / AAG controls) to include its changes in the parent project for non-complex tasks (those without SAC gateway controls - for those with SAC enabled, see this page). This process updates the project level with concepts created or modified in the task, which can then be taken into other tasks via their rebase from the project, and also promoted to MAIN via the project, for inclusion in the next SNOMED CT release.

Task promotion is enabled when certain content checks have been satisfied.

The most basic and perhaps obvious of these is that the task branch content must be ahead of the project parent branch, in other words it contains content changes to promote. This test is implicit in the AP user interface in that project promotion controls remain inactive until there is something to promote from the task.

For non-complex tasks (those for which the Complex  slider control is not set to enabled), this is the only pre-requisite to enabling task promotion.

When a task is flagged as Complex (via the control slider control in the upper-right of the Task View - Task Details panel), it will activate any task-level Service Acceptance Criteria (SAC) defined for the parent project.

Confirm that all mandatory task-level SAC conditions are met.

Until these are met, task promotion will be blocked and Promote This Task to the Project  in the Task View - Task Details panel actions button list will not be enabled.

A "Preparing for task promotion" notification is presented in the page header.

Task promotion also has implicit warning checks for the following conditions (in addition to the task branch content pre-requisites and mandatory task-level SAC defined for the project):

  • Task changes have been classified.
  • Classification results are current (no content changes since last classified).
  • Classification results have been accepted.
  • Review has been completed.

If any of these are not yet satisfied, then attempting preparing for promotion will checks trigger a pop-up warning notification showing their statuses, with the option to Return to Task  without promotingaction options to cancel the promotion, or to continue if task changes are considered sufficiently safe to go to update the project level content without satisfying these conditions.

Press  Return to Task  to cancel the promotion without changing project content or the task status.

Press Promote Anyway  to continue promotion.

A "promoting task to project" notification is presented in the page header whilst branch content changes are merged to the project level.
A "Task successfully promoted for PROJECT-##" (where PROJECT is the project identifier, and ## is the task ID) notification is presented in the page header.
