Reviewing implementation results

Measure, Review and Improve

The sixth step in the SNOMED CT implementation process is to measure performance, review user feedback and plan improvements. Clinical systems are involved in critical functions of healthcare, and usually, this step is part of a continuous quality improvement cycle that includes monitoring the implementation, deciding on enhancements, implementing the changes, and monitoring the impact again.

Monitoring the implementation

  1. Measure benefits
    1. Based on predefined indicators
    2. Apply the SNOMED CT Maturity Model
    3. Compare with a baseline taken before deployment
    4. Apply the SNOMED CT Maturity Framework
  2. Review
    1. Review successes and challenges
    2. Review user feedback
    3. Consider areas for improvement or new functionality
  3. Improve
    1. Improve user experience
    2. Add new or enhanced functionalities
    3. Implement a higher SNOMED CT maturity level
