  1. Hi Jim CaseYongsheng Gao  Template here is ready for review.

    1. Hi Krista Lilly, it looks good. Please run the template language in the reporting platform to see if any further changes are needed.

      Cheers,

      Yong

      1. Yongsheng Gao Running the template compliance report resulted in 32 misaligned concepts. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r8L0hFf53VkGX8h-kkfvpvZQ0mVH8DaOnm-uykBniMM/edit#gid=0  Some concepts will have an additional role group of Has focus if there is a clinical condition mentioned in the FSN.

  2. Krista Lilly,

Sorry to be tardy on this.  Typically I would think we would use the adjectival form of "prophylactic" when talking about administration of a drug and the noun form "prophylaxis" when talking about the disorder being prevented.  Thus I would recommend that we change the FSN to say "Administration of prophylactic [drug or medicament]" indicating that the purpose of the administration is prevention without stating the target of the prophylaxis.  The current terming could be interpreted (although highly unlikely) as being prophylaxis against the drug or medicament, which doesn't make sense.

Examples we currently have include "antifungal prophylaxis" i.e. administration of an agent to prevent mycosis, which would have an FSN of "administration of prophylatic antifungal medication".

    1. Okay, the term descriptions have been updated.

  3. Krista Lilly- This might be outside scope of QI but note that we need to consider how this relates to 18629005 |Administration of drug or medicament (procedure)|. Question is whether this is a duplicate or not... ? Can we say all drugs are administered as prophylaxis?

  4. Prophylaxis is intended to prevent disease, while administration  of most drugs are to treat disease.  We need to make the distinction.  In some cases, drugs can be used both prophylactically or as treatment (i.e. the now famous Ivermectin)
