Introduction

This catalogue provides information about and links to IHTSDO's SNOMED CT refsets, maps and translations, and it provides a space for IHTSDO Members to volunteer information and links related to their own refsets, maps and translations for public access and download. Because the information is voluntary, not all Member refsets, maps and translations appear below.

The purpose of this catalogue is to enable users to share or simply download SNOMED CT refsets, maps and translations.

Browsing

Many SNOMED CT refsets, maps and translations are available for browsing (but not download) through the SNOMED CT browser, available at http://browser.ihtsdotools.org/

To browse, select the edition of SNOMED CT (International Edition, Spanish Edition, Australian Edition, etc.). In the left sidebar, click on "Refset," then choose one. Australia and the UK have by far the most.

Refset Management and Translation Tool

IHTSDO offers use of a free Refset Management and Translation tool. The features are available here: Refset Management & Translation Tooling. An overview, the documentation and some training are available here: IHTSDO Refset Management & Translation Tool.

Definitions

A SNOMED CT subset refers to a set of components (i.e. concepts, descriptions or relationships) that come from a particular edition of SNOMED CT.

A SNOMED CT reference set ("refset") is a standard format for maintaining and distributing a set of references to SNOMED CT components. So a reference set is the means of maintaining and distributing a subset.

A map is a way of converting data from a representation in one code system, classification or terminology so that it is represented in another code system, classification or terminology. The means of distributing SNOMED CT maps is a refset.

Translations, for our purposes here, means translations of SNOMED CT or its derivatives (including refsets), as well as translations of product support documentation (such as the SNOMED CT Starter Guide).
