Hi Yongsheng Gao
As discussed in the last QI call, here is the draft template for Drug dependence concepts. Kindly review the template and let me know if I can go ahead with normalization.
Similar to "Harmful pattern of use of [substance and/or product] (disorder) - v1.0", I anticipate changes to the terming and modelling once the Mental and Behavioural Health Clinical Reference Group has finalized their decision regarding substance use/abuse/ misuse/ dependance etc:
However, as noted during the QI call, this template can be used as a starting point and to making all current children consistently modelled.
Thanks,
Farzaneh

Substance-Modification not allowed?
How are the various amphetamine type substances to be modelled? (e.g. methamphetamine, pseudoephedrine, MDMA etc)
The currently modelling is patchy, but some candidate substances are currently modelled with this property (is modification of) - 288459003|Methylenedioxymethamphetamine|
Which is used to define = 724704009|MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) dependence with current use|

Hi Matt Cordell
Thanks for the feedback and raising a valid point. I will take your comment for internal discussion and will get back to you with an update.
Thanks,
Farzaneh
Yongsheng Gao
Hi Farzaneh Ashrafi , the template looks fine. Please go ahead with the normalisation for the QI project.
Farzaneh Ashrafi
Thanks Yongsheng Gao
Matt Cordell
Yongsheng Gao The editorial rules are more specific than the template.
Yongsheng Gao
Thanks Matt Cordell , your feedback is noted for discussion. The normalisation in the QI project only converts the existing concept model to the authoring form (proximal primitive parent). The editorial guide and modelling will be updated after the recommendation is finalised by the clinical reference group. Then, we can move to the next step for the implementation of this template.

Template to be updated with new model.
Elaine Wooler
Hi,Farzaneh Ashrafi. Could you please review this and let me know if any changes are needed?
Many thanks
Elaine
Farzaneh Ashrafi
Hi Elaine Wooler ,
The up[dated template looks fine to me except for one minor change: I think that the “Concept Model” table, the "is_a" attribute value also needs to be changed from 191816009 |Drug dependence (disorder)| to 74732009 |Mental disorder (disorder)|.
Thanks,
Farzaneh
Elaine Wooler
Thanks Farzaneh. Changed.
Elaine Wooler
Hi Yongsheng Gao could you review this template please and see if it is ready to go into production. Thanks.
Yongsheng Gao
Hi Elaine Wooler We could update the domain to cover drug dependencies as well, such as ECL: < 74732009 |Mental disorder (disorder)| : 363713009 |Has interpretation (attribute)| = 371154000 |Dependent (qualifier value)| and 363714003 |Interprets (attribute)| = 1187057000 |Substance use behavior (observable entity)|. This will be aligned with the template, which allows medicinal products as causative agents, though we do not have concepts in the international release.
Elaine Wooler
Thanks Yong and done.
