Introduction to Release Management
Release management encompasses the planning, scheduling and control of the deployment of new and changed release artefacts into production environments.
This requires close interaction with all aspects of the business and other Service Management disciplines, in order to create a defined set of release components.
The detailed management of all parts of the delivery lifecycle of hardware, software and data releases, enables the delivery of high quality products and services.
The primary aim of Release Management is to ensure that the integrity of the live environment and/or products are protected, and that the correct components are released.
