IHTSDO-455 addresses removal organism life-cycle stages from the organisms hierarchy. A subsidiary goal is to create a naming convention for organism subtypes that specifically name a life-cycle stage in which the organism is "participating" (most often describes the organism "as identified" by a laboratory).

The part of IHTSDO-455 that may be most controversial is a deliberate decision not to create a values hierarchy for concept classes that can ONLY be life-cycle stages.
