Dear all,

As some of you are aware, the Modeling AG has been working on the enhancements of logic profile to provide recommendation for the future expressivity of SNOMED CT and representation of that expressivity.

The draft for SNOMED CT logic profile enhancements has been developed. This document presents the benefits and requirements of the enhancements. A subset of OWL 2 EL profile is the recommended logic profile for SNOMED CT. The OWL reference set will be the formal representation of logical definitions and it will eventually replace the stated relationship file. The roadmap is proposed with discussions of potential impact.

We would like to share this document and gather feedback for the October 2017 business meeting. Then, the separate specification documents, Logic Profile and OWL reference set, will be delivered by the end of this year. In particular, your input and feedback on the following subjects will be highly appreciated:

  • Any changes to the proposed logic profile with supporting use case
  • Additional requirements and modeling pattens to be considered
  • OWL reference set specification and rendering requirements for OWL expressions
  • Preference of representing concrete domains and impact to the existing and future implementation
  • Practicability for the stages and timeline in the roadmap for implementation
  • Any potential impact that has not been covered in the document

Please submit comments before the end of September. The feedback from groups or individuals can be submitted as comments in the Google document for SNOMED CT Logic Profile Enhancements. Any other general questions or comments can be added on this confluence page.

Please feel free to share this information to any relevant members and parties.
