The agenda and minutes were approved by consensus.

Inadequate and Excessive nutrition diagnoses

3.1 Inadequate/Excessive models

D. PertelReview models for inadequate and excessive nutrition diagnoses.

The revised modeling for the Inadequate and Excessive nutrition diagnoses (findings in SNOMED), were presented. SNOMED has moved forward with inactivation of the Inadequate and Excessive dietary intake concepts and replacement with the Inadequate and excessive macro- and micro-nutrient concepts as presented. The modeling uses:

  • Interprets --Fat and oil intake (observable entity)
  • Has interpretation–Excessive or Inadequate

The inactivated concepts will indicate that the concept that may be Possibly equivalent to help those implementing know what new concept to use.

4

Diets (regime/therapy) modeling

4.1 Diet models

D. PertelReview existing and proposed models for diets.

A motion to accept the proposed modeling for diet concepts in SNOMED CT and suggest a template be developed was approved.

The name of the diet will not change unless necessary based on the defining attributes.

For energy and fluid concepts, the defining attributes suggested are:

  • 260686004 |Method (attribute)| → 129325002 |Introduction - action (qualifier value)|
    • Since the Observable for energy intake in 24 hours is modeled with characterizes Introduction (parent to Administration of substance), the value of Introduction – action was chosen.
  • 363702006 |Has focus (attribute)|→ 430182009 |Excessive dietary caloric intake (finding)| (we are working with SNOMED on inactivation of this and have created Excessive energy intake)
  • NOT PART of MODEL: 363701004 |Direct substance (attribute)| → Energy is not a substance and Fluid (general and does not represent one substance)

For the nutrient concepts, the defining attributes suggested are:

  • 260686004 |Method (attribute)| → 129445006 |Administration - action (qualifier value)|
    • Since the Observable for nutrient (eg, fat and oil intake in 24 hours model) characterizes Administration of substance.
  • 363702006 |Has focus (attribute)|→ Proposed value, 430183004 |Inadequate dietary intake of fat (finding)| (we are working with SNOMED on inactivation of dietary and have created Inadequate fat and oil intake)
  • 363701004 |Direct substance (attribute)| → |Substance (substance)|, for example, fat and oil, protein and protein derivative, carbohydrate, plant fiber.
