The Production release of the April 2023 SNOMED CT® International Edition is now available to all users, from the MLDS distribution site.
All files distributed for the April 2023 International Edition are available from the "April 2023 v1.0" version in the "SNOMED CT International Edition" project, which can be found on the "SNOMED Releases" page in MLDS, accessed here:
The SNOMED CT International Edition contains SNOMED CT files in Release Format 2 (RF2) only, distributed in a zipped file archive:
- SnomedCT_InternationalRF2_PRODUCTION_20230430T120000Z.zip
The Release Notes ("doc_SnomedCTReleaseNotes_Current-en-US_INT_20230430.pdf") can be downloaded as distinct files from the same MLDS release version, or accessed online:
Those Members using MLDS as their distribution site will find that their affiliates have access to the new release automatically.
All vendors and affiliates should please contact their National Release Centre (NRC) for information on when the latest release package will be available for download from the NRC website. Contact details for all NRC's can be found here - http://www.snomed.org/members/

The Production release of the April 2023 SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition is now available to everyone from the MLDS distribution site. This release contains the Spanish language version of the January 2023 SNOMED CT® International Edition.

The SNOMED CT® Spanish Edition Production release is distributed as a single zipped file archive:

The Release Notes have also been published as a .pdf file alongside the release package, in the same MLDS repository.
Note: A proposal is being reviewed to improve the delivery schedule of the Spanish Edition, by bringing the Spanish Releases closer into alignment with each of the relevant International Edition releases. This would involve the removal of the BETA feedback period from the Spanish Release schedule from the October 2023 cycle onwards, allowing us to publish the Spanish Edition a month earlier, on 31st March and 30th September each year. This should have no impact on the quality of the final content, as we have not received any feedback on the Spanish BETA releases for several cycles. If you have any strong objections to this proposal, however, please email us at release@snomed.org.

Dear all
An opportunity has been identified to improve the Release schedule for the SNOMED CT Spanish Edition package. Currently the Spanish Edition Release is published on 30th April + 31st October each year, which is several months after the relevant dependent International Edition is published (in January/July respectively). This was necessary in order to allow sufficient time for both the full translation of the new/updated International concepts, and rigorous validation to ensure high quality deliverables.
However, we have now streamlined these processes, and are looking to start bringing the Spanish Edition closer into alignment with each of the relevant International Edition releases. The first step, therefore, will be the removal of the now obsolete BETA feedback period from the Spanish Release schedule from the Q3 2023 cycle onwards. This will enable us to bring the Spanish Edition Release forward by one month, publishing it on 30th September and 31st March from 30th September 2023 onwards.
After this, we will continue to review and improve the processes and bring the Spanish release dates forward again when it is safe to do so without compromising the quality of the content.

The Production release of the SNOMED CT MedDRA Simple Map package is now available from the MLDS distribution site. This release is dependent upon, and should therefore be consumed in conjunction with the January 2023 SNOMED CT International Edition.
SNOMED International and ICH/MedDRA MSSO, together with regulatory and industry partners, developed the SNOMED CT to MedDRA and MedDRA to SNOMED CT maps as part of the WEB-RADR 2 project, funded by the EU’s Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI). For full details, please see the Release Notes linked below.
