In the past few years we have introduced additional review periods as part of the release cycle of the SNOMED CT International edition - we now currently produce Alpha, Beta and Member releases for review during each International Edition cycle.
Given the relative stability of the recent releases, we are now considering replacing the Alpha release period with content authoring, which would result in SNOMED International being able to include an extra 2 weeks worth of editing improvements in each International Edition release. We would, of course, continue to produce the Beta and Member releases for everyone to review and provide feedback before the final Production release is published. This change would be implemented from the January 2021 International Edition release cycle onwards.
