2Use of ConfluenceJeff Wilcke

OIDM Project space has been made public.

Project Group Members need to have Confluence account.

Questions from the chair:

  1. Will "Management via Confluence" (only) be acceptable to the membership of this PG?
    1. Is this "one page starts as agenda and becomes minutes" OK?
  2. Is "watching" an adequate substitute for notices sent by the chair (or other member)?
  3. Can "Discussions" substitute for formal surveys and votes?
  4. Can we use Confluence to improve our ability to interact with stakeholders (to solicit input etc.)?
    1. Can we improve DOCUMENTATION of interactions between this group and end users (who seem unlikely to participate in teleconferences)?
  5. What more should be added to the home page? to this collaboration site?
  •  Jeff Wilcke will send one final email notifying existing recipient list of the changes approved today.
3Future activities (2016)Jeff Wilcke

We spent 2015 addressing issues presented to us by the Microbiology Findings group and addressing specific requests as recorded in the SIRS system. I would like to return to what I hope can be the primary focus and activity of this group - creating a model for the organisms hierarchy and initiate editing to conform to said model.

Where do we start? Are these appropriate topics for discussions?

Do we need to define/re-define the focus of "remodeling"?

Who's the audience for the organism hierarchy and what do they do with it?

  • Microbiology laboratories - looking for report values
  • Public health - looking to aggregate information?
  • IHTSDO modelers - defining findings, infectious diseases etc.

Can we define boundaries / priorities?

  • How "deep" can organisms be reliably modeled?
  • Which sub-hierarchies have priority (bacteria, viruses, protozoa, etc.)?

  •  Jeff Wilcke will create access to "outstanding issues" documents/listings etc. for next meeting.

Decisions

Item 1: The item is closed.  Editors should proceed with creation of the specified content.

Item 2: In general, it was agreed that a less active approach to project group management was acceptable.  Interested parties will be encouraged to "watch" the space.  Membership is not required for interested individuals to "Watch" (track, get reminders from, etc.) this space.  Membership in a group requires a Confluence account.  Membership confers the ability to take an active role (create  /participate in discussions, edit / add pages etc.

Item 3: We have archives of all the prior (Collabnet) materials.  Need to locate outstanding issues and create better access to them in this space.  There was a lengthy discussion of Salmonella serotypes (an known issue known to be "unresolved") and the need for "codes" for reporting same.  This lead to a more general discussion of the need to place "organism name tracking" at the top of our list of issues to address near term.
