SNOMED International hopes that this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.

Although globally there are some hopeful signs regarding the management of the COVID-19 situation, it is becoming increasingly apparent that travel restrictions will remain in place for many of our SNOMED CT community in October. After much analysis and discussion, SNOMED International governance and organizational leadership have decided that the SNOMED CT Expo 2020, taking place October 8-9, will be run solely as a virtual event.  Portugal will now serve as the October Business Meeting and SNOMED CT Expo host in 2021, with subsequent awarded hosts to follow accordingly.

‘Going virtual’ will open up some new and exciting possibilities for how this year’s SNOMED CT Expo is run. Supported by an online platform integrated with the event registration system, presenters will share their SNOMED CT experiences through video and interact with their audience via Q&A sessions, whilst attendees explore an Expo environment composed of industry supporters.

Provisions are also being made to allow the October 2020 Business Meetings to convene online where appropriate and discussions are currently underway that specifically address October’s evolving governance, advisory and working group meeting schedule. More information will be shared with group chairs as soon as it is available.

REMINDER:

The ‘Call for Abstracts’ remains open for submissions, to a newly extended deadline of June 5th! Presenting virtually at the Expo this year creates a unique opportunity to share your message with a broader international audience. We are looking for e-posters or concurrent session presentations focused on your experience implementing or using SNOMED CT. Please be assured that technical support will be provided to facilitate this new format.

SUBMIT ABSTRACT

Event registration will open in July and program information and other details will be available in the coming months.

Please contact our events team at events@snomed.org if you have any questions about the event.

Thank you for your continued support of SNOMED International and the SNOMED CT Expo. We hope to “see” you on October 8-9!

In February 2020, the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (Inserm) and SNOMED International took steps to renew their relationship governing the rare disease content included in SNOMED CT.  A relationship initially forged in 2015, the objective of the agreement is to improve the visibility of rare diseases in terminologies and promote interoperability among different codification and terminology systems, such as SNOMED CT for the benefit of their shared users globally.
