Objectives

The main purpose of the E-Learning Advisory Group (ELAG) is to facilitate delivery of E-Learning products and services that address requirements of Members and other stakeholders for development of knowledge and skills related to SNOMED CT and other SNOMED International products and services.

Specific ELAG objectives for 2024 include:

  • To identify local languages required by each Member's SNOMED CT community for education

  • Identify potential education delivery partners for each required language (e.g. universities or other education providers)

  • To advise on CME and CPD accreditation opportunities in each local region
  • To advise on national and international priorities and activities needed to increase knowledge and skills related to SNOMED CT

Meetings

ELAG plans to meet twice per year, with additional meetings scheduled if required.

These meetings will be held face-to-face and online, in April and October, during SNOMED International's business meetings.

Activities

 1. Supporting the delivery of SNOMED CT E-Learning services

Member representatives are encouraged to support E-Learning services in the following ways:

  • Advertising and promoting SNOMED E-Learning services within Member countries and territories.
  • Identifying key education collaboration opportunities to enhance SNOMED CT E-Learning delivery.
  • Identifying issues or opportunities arising from E-Learning delivery, including changing patterns in course demand

 2. Advising on the development of SNOMED CT E-Learning services

All ELAG members will provide advice on ways to enhance the value of current E-Learning services within the available resources. Advice will be sought on the following topics:

  • The effectiveness of available E-Learning courses and learning pathways, including the identification of learning gaps or unnecessary inclusions.
  • Additional opportunities for E-Learning modules to meet the needs of other audiences
  • Requirements for maintenance and continued development of course material
  • Other ideas to extend or improve the existing E-Learning offerings

 3. Facilitating sharing of SNOMED CT E-Learning resources

Member representatives on ELAG will have a key role in facilitating sharing and translation (where required) of SNOMED CT E-Learning resources, and education collaboration opportunities. Advice will be sought on Member requirements related to the development and delivery of translated services.

 4. Advising E-Learning Team about educational priorities and activities

  • Member representatives are encouraged to share information about national priorities for SNOMED CT education with the E-Learning Team and ELAG.
  • All ELAG members are encouraged to share information about national education activities relevant to SNOMED CT.

Communication

  • ELAG will enable two-way communication between the SNOMED International E-Learning team and Members on areas related to SNOMED CT education and E-Learning.
  • The primary routes for communications will be the ELAG confluence space and ELAG meetings.
  • Communications to ELAG will, by default, be publicly accessible on the ELAG confluence space.
  • Information that is not for public view may be shared on pages that are accessible only to ELAG members. 

Criteria for measuring success

The key criteria for the success of the ELAG in 2024 relates to the provision of advice on the development of SNOMED CT E-Learning services. The key measures of success in this area will be:

  • Availability of new E-Learning offerings that are welcomed and used by the community to further widen knowledge, understanding, and practical skills related to SNOMED CT.
  • Identification of all local languages required for SNOMED CT education
  • Identification of potential education delivery partners in each required language (e.g. universities or other education providers)
  • An outline recommendation on further practical steps for 2024 and beyond to meet requirements for SNOMED CT education in ways that support and are supported by Members, Vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • No labels
