Overview

There is no formal project for Organisms, however there is work being done resulting form changes identified through submissions made to the Content Request Systems, internal review, content trackers and other projects (e.g. Organism & Infectious Disease Model (OIDM) project group).

Organism Content (Authoring team)

  1. New additions and content changes resulting from requests, trackers and/or internal review.

    1. January 2019:

      1. Correcting Influenza virus descriptions: Around 350 corrections/changes were made to Influenza virus descriptions over multiple hierarchies (majority in substance hierarchy but also including disorder, procedure and organism hierarchies). Most of the changes consisted of inactivating the erroneous description and replacing it with a new correct description. In addition, two new concepts were added in the organism hierarchy.

      2. Applying consistent case sensitivity to organism descriptions containing "Taxon Rank": Changing the case sensitivity setting for 10282 descriptions (over 4964 concepts).

      3. Fixing issues identified in the QA reports through out the release -

        1. duplicate descriptions: 11 Concepts

        2. spelling mistakes: 29

        3. missing historical association: 32 Concepts

    2. July 2019:
      1. Review case significance assignment for Organism concepts and terms not-containing Taxon Rank
      2. Content tracker IHTSDO-1003 - Clarification, simplification and correction of the top levels of the SNOMED CT Organism hierarchy

Jan & July International Release schedule

  1. The SLA for associated requests were met for January and July 2017 as well as January and July 2018 releases. In progress for SNOMED CT International Release January 2019
  2. Requests met for January and July 2018 releases.
  3. The SLA for associated requests were met for January 2019. Other tasks (as identified in the list of deliverables) were completed within the timeline.

Organism & Infectious Disease Model Project Group

This project is focused primarily on improving content of the Organism hierarchy of SNOMED CT to support three distinct but interconnected user needs:

  1. Laboratory reporting

  2. Public health / epidemiology

  3. Logical definitions of infectious diseases
